Cartesian Logic for Decision Making
B Schools have equipped us with numerous frameworks to assist with us decision making. However, one problem with pure B School students is that we tend to look inwards but not outwards to improve our knowledge.
I chanced upon the concept of Cartesian Logic (Thanks to Mark Liew) and realized that it immediately helps you to consider all your possible options before making a decision. There are essentially 4 points to it:
- What would happen if i make this decision.
- What would happen if i did not make this decision.
- What would not happen if i make this decision.
- What would not happen if i did not make this decision.
There are so many other ways to make use of Cartesian Logic in business. You just have to understand how it works to use it the way you want.
On Groupon and Deals
The concept of group buying has always been around, yet it has never been such a phenomenon until groupon and other group buying sites started sprouting around the world.
If you look closely, what has changed from the past to now, is how easy it has become for people to buy in collective groups. Technology is the game changer and simplicity is the essence of it all.
Look for something that everyone desires, make it simple, accessible, and you have a winning formula.
The end of an era
In our hearts, we all knew that day would come. We did not expect it would be so soon.
